Clinic Description
The Mental Health Justice Clinic is a collaboration between the Empowerment Council and the University of Windsor Faculty of Law, and is funded by The Law Foundation of Ontario.
It is dedicated to advancing access to justice for individuals with lived experience of mental health and addiction systems. In partnership with the Empowerment Council – the collective voice of mental health and addiction service users in the Greater Toronto Area – students contribute to advocacy, research, and law reform initiatives addressing systemic barriers faced by consumers and survivors of the psychiatric system.

The clinic provides assistance in some family law, housing, and immigration/refugee matters.
Yes. The clinic provides legal representation in the practice areas listed above, and also provides brief services, summary advice, and supported referrals.
The Empowerment Council is a voice for clients of mental health and addiction services, primarily of CAMH. The Empowerment Council advocates on a systemic level on behalf of CAMH clients. The EC provides information and education to clients, mental health and addiction service providers, students, members of the public, and others.
